Vibe staffers left unemployed after that magazine's recent demise should look somewhere besides Spin for work, as the magazine cut loose at least six staffers, according to New York magazine. Six staffers isn't exactly a General-Motors-caliber round of layoffs, but it's a substantial number at Spin. All media and publishing are in the middle of a lengthy beating, but this qualifies as an especially bad week for music journalism. Some solace can be taken in the fact that Spin still remains a magazine and not a memory, and the layoffs may stave off the fate that befell Vibe and Blender, which shuttered its windows earlier in the year.
