Spike Lee has been attached to a James Brown biopic for a few years now (he officially got a script in 2006), and so has Wesley Snipes, recent tax evader. But you'd have to figure, given Snipes' recent problems, he'd be out right? Apparently not says Lee, who promises that a James Brown biopic, starring Snipes is "going to happen."
"Going to happen" could of course mean the movie is done in 10 years, but yeah, Lee says it's on. But as a caveat, Lee added that he would not let Snipes sing any of Brown's songs:
"I want to hear James Brown's voice. That's just my personal taste," Lee said. "I know Joaquin Phoenix in Walk the Line, he did some of the singing, but I'm a purist."
Good call Spike. Because you wouldn't want Snipes to think he all of a sudden has musical talent like Phoenix. [The Playlist]
