Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous and Christian Fennesz have formed an unlikely collaboration. The two recently got together and recorded some material that will be released as the next installment in Konkurrent's In the Fishtank series. Though no release date has been set, the label is hoping to have the album ready to come out in March. As if that weren't enough good news, the two will also perform together on Feb. 8 at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee. Who knows how they'll mesh Linkous' moth-eaten, decomposing tales of woe with Fennesz' ever-expanding haze, both on record and on stage, but the results are sure to be interesting. [Pitchfork]
