Soundgarden got back together in 2010, allowing music fans of a certain age to dust off their flannel shirts and revel in the band’s big dumb riffage once again. There have been rumors of an album from the group, but no new music has been forthcoming until now. “Live to Rise” is taken from the soundtrack to the upcoming Avengers soundtrack, due for release in May, and being previewed in the 30-second clip below. This snippet doesn’t reach the vocal passages—we’ll have to wait a while until Chris Cornell treats us to his spiraling falsetto again—but there’s some prime Kim Thayil riffing here, the kind that makes you glad this band is working as a unit again.
