Soundgarden Bassist Homeless And Broke, Says Soundgarden Bassist

So maybe, just maybe, the Soundgarden reunion isn't entirely about Chris Cornell exhausting all his Audioslave/solo options: Talking with Spin, bassist Ben Shepherd said he's essentially homeless after splitting with his girlfriend, and is broke:

When asked where he lives, he said, "Nowhere. Literally. I've been sleeping on studio couches and at friends' houses. I'm totally broke."

Shepherd also revealed how hard he took the bands initial break-up, admitting that he got addicted to painkillers. He added, "My whole life seemed over. Soundgarden broke up; my other band, Hater, broke up; my fiancée broke up with me; and then I broke three ribs. I got addicted to pain pills, drank a ton, and wound up OD'ing on morphine. I was laid out in my house for five days, and no one knew it. It was a fucking horrible time -- this total rock 'n' roll cliché."

So this reunion is definitely for the money. But not build an extra guest house money: Get an apartment money. Soundgarden are plotting a big tour, which hasn't been entirely announced yet. [Spinner
