Sons & Daughters Dropping New LP, ‘Mirror Mirror,’ June 14

The forthcoming fourth album from Sons & Daughters, Mirror Mirror, marks a change in direction from the Scottish quartet that got its start as a folk-rock act. And to help with their transition, they collaborated with producer JD Twitch, one half of DJ duo Optimo. They also had the album mixed by Gareth Jones, known for his work with Depeche Mode and Wire. In case Jones and Twitch’s backgrounds didn’t already give it away, Mirror Mirror is a far more brooding, synthesizer-heavy affair from Sons & Daughters. Showcasing that perfectly is lead single “Silver Spell,” a track built on John Carpenter synths, tribal drums, and almost chant-like vocals.
