Sonic Youth Streaming Free Mixtape
Thurston More is a known fan of mixtapes, so it’s no surprise to find that Sonic Youth has one of their own streaming for free over on their official website. The band has a new record due on its SYR imprint this week, which is titled Simon Werner A Disparu, and makes up the soundtrack to the film of the same name. The mixtape opens with a track from that record, then digs into the Sonic Youth vaults, with a vintage live recording of “Star Power,” a cover of Captain Beefheart’s “Electricity,” and a couple of Lee Ranaldo demos all included.
