Sonic Youth new album <i>The Eternal</i> due in June

Thurston Moore has announced that Sonic Youth are wrapping up recording their latest studio album, tentatively titled The Eternal. He says that the follow-up to 2006's Rather Ripped should be ready for release in June.

In an interview with Uncut magazine, Moore described the new material as "juicy" and "supersonic." The album will see the group most of us consider quintessentially indie, returning to an indie label, Matador, after a 16-year tenure at Geffen. [NME]
