Someone stole the Stooges' gear!

In an act of despicable robbery of The Stooges we haven't seen since they were last snubbed for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Stooges' gear was stolen after a recent concert in Montreal. The gear was in a rented truck that was stolen outside the Embassy Suite hotel in Montreal sometime on Monday morning. In addition to Dave Asheton's drum kit, Mike Watt's Gibson bass guitar was included in the loot. The heritage of that guitar was worthy of the "priceless label" by Stooges manager Eric Fischer.

Iggy and The Stooges have not cancelled any dates, but will use rented and borrowed equipment for the rest of the tour, including a stop at Terminal 5 in Manhattan on August 8. I'm sure the band won't be lacking musicians more than willing to lend their gear to the rock hall-worthy band.

Despicable! Sad Watt's guitar was sacred!

Hope they catch the thieves and get the gear back. I hope it doesn't affect the show in Toronto tomorrow although I don't expect them to be in the best of m0od.
