Some Cool Britannia for These Tough Times: Blur Drummer Aims for Parliament

Considering the dearth of inspirational political leaders in Britain, it might not be a bad idea to elect Blur drummer Dave Rowntree to public office this time around.

After the conclusion of Blur's reunion tour this summer, Rowntree vows to return to building up a political career after recently earning a law degree. The band's drummer already ran two  times for local council elections for the Labour Party, in both 2007 and 2008. Both attempts did not result in success. Yet he has now been selected to run for the Labour Party in the country's next general election.

Yet following the buzz of the reunion, and the desperate desire for an exciting and charismatic figure by the newly beleaguered British masses, Rowntree may have better luck this time. Blur is both beloved and derided, as is natural, but sometimes, frankly any reaction/emotion is better than none
