The eight-track and the cassette have effectively died out, as surely soon the CD will. But vinyl will live forever. And label The Social Registry is doing its part to keep vinyl's warm heart beating. Social Registry is starting The Social Club, a monthly 7" vinyl series. The label says, "Each record will see a limited pressing of 750 come in hand-numbered letter-pressed artwork." Subscriptions will initially be for six months. The first installment will occur in May, coming from Jena Malone and her Bloodstains. How frightening is it that that's what she's calling her band? Girl must have never gotten out of the spooky mindset of Donnie Darko.Future installments will come from side projects of members of Gang Gang Dance, Growing, Psychic Ills, and Orthrelm, as well as Douglas Armour, Sian Alice Group, and Kid Kishore. Head to the label's website for details on how to subscribe.
