A third cast member has been added to the cast of Saturday Night Live’s 38th season.
Second City performer Cecily Strong has been picked up as a featured player on NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show. Strong joins fellow Chicago-based Second City performers Aidy Bryant and Tim Robinson, who were announced earlier this week.
Strong toured with Second City’s national company, worked on several sketches for The Second City Network YouTube channel and served as an understudy for two stage teams, Mainstage and e.t.c. She decided to move to Chicago and study at Second City after deciding to focus on comedy while working toward a degree in theater from CalArts. Also, Strong has worked with Bryant in the past, as they were both part of the Virgin Daiquiri improv team at the iO Chicago Theater.
All three new players will be featured on this week’s episode of SNL, hosted by Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane and musical guest Frank Ocean.
