Sneak Peek of Nick Cave's Soundtrack For 'The Road' Available

The film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road is still a couple of weeks away, but a sneak peek of the film's Nick Cave and Warren Ellis soundtrack can be found here. Though the images released of the film suggest a post-industrial wasteland, the music is absent of discordant tones or electronic noise and seems rather quiet and contemplative. These are only brief snippets, however they do seem to indicate that director James Hillcoat will focus on the relationship between the father and son rather than creating a series of exploding set pieces. This remains true to McCarthy's vision, but will probably make about a hundred million less than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. [The Playlist]

Tracks sound similar to the Assassination of Jesse James score that they did.

I agree. Also similar to The Proposition. There is that hint of the western in most of McCarthy's work, though.

I was hoping for something weirder, darker...but "The Journey" is close to that...
