As we reported last week, many of us learned of the tragic stage collapse at the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium when The Smith Westerns tweeted about the horrific event that killed five and injured many more. The guys weren't only in Europe for that gig, though, and quickly moved on to play at the Dutch Lowlands Festival days later.
While there, they spoke with the folks at 3VOOR12 to provide an eyewitness account of just what happened. It apparently all began after they had wrapped up the first song of their set and they were tweaking their amplifiers following what they thought were mere technical issues. But once a screen fell down onto their drum set and they noticed stuff above them was moving unnaturally, they knew they had to get off the stage.
