The Smashing Pumpkins' revolving door has stopped turning once again as bandleader Billy Corgan has hired yet another female bassist, Nicole Fiorentino, to fill in the role once held by original member D'Arcy, then Melissa Auf der Mar and most recently Ginger Pooley (who left in March). Fiorentino, who will be working with Corgan on the Pumpkins' Teargarden by Kaleidyscope opus and will also be touring with the band, has a fairly substantial rock background, having played bass in Louise Post's version of Veruca Salt as well as Twilight Sleep, Radio Vago and Brody Dalle's band Spinnerette. According to ThePumpkins.net, Fiorentino also moonlights in a band called The Cold and Lovely during her downtime, which we're not sure how much she'll have now that she's with Corgan's crew. As much as Billy Corgan frustrates me, I've always admired his taste in sexy female bassists.
