Smashing Pumpkins reunion gig announced

Via Blabbermouth
Look at that face. It's got an uncomfortable expression that combines utter contentment and severe constipation. And that should more or less summarize the Smashing Pumpkins fan's reaction to today's double helping of Corgan & Co. news. Billy Corgan has finally announced that FRANCE is the lucky winner of the un-publicized "Have Your Country Host the Next Smashing Pumpkins Reunion Gig That Is Rumored to Not Feature Half of the Original Band!" contest - the band will play for the first time in six years at The Grand Rex in Paris on May 22nd. And it's a sure sign that Virgin hasn't really tapped into the cultural Zeitgeist that, as previously reported, they've planned a lame-o publicity stunt surrounding the release of Zeitgeist, the first SP album in seven years: it comes out on July 7th at 7:07, the seventh minute of the seventh hour of the seventh day of the seventh month of the 7th year of the 21st century. Let's ignore that July 7th is a Saturday, and some of us won't be asleep yet after our July 4th festivities, let alone interested in pushing through our hangovers to buy a faux-reunion album by a band many of us stopped rooting for ten years ago.

It can't be Guns N Roses part II if the album is actually coming out. Who cares if Iha and D'Arcy aren't there? Let's be honest...they were interchangeable and it's CORGAN's band anyway. It's always been. I don't care if the album is coming out the Saturday after the fourth of July. Who cares about your hangovers? Nobody made you drink (and no I'm not some straight edge punk...I drink too).Let's just hope that this album is at least three steps above MACHINA.

I have a bad feeling about this album, but maybe I'll be wrong

Wow, pretty brutal by the author. Say what you will, at least SP explored new territory with each album. Of course nothing will top Siamese Dream, but with every succeeding album they brought a new feel. Now some purists may have not liked that. I for one really like Adore AND Machina. They were more contemporary sounding than the uber-alternative SD and M&tIS and they continued to show Corgan's brilliant craft for songwriting.Having Said this, I too have a bad feeling about the new album, basically because everything Corgan's done since then has sucked.

Gish was probably my favorite SP album

That's what everyone says now. But I believe you.

Siamese Dream was my fav, but I still think this whole SP revival is because Corgan was exposed for not being as talented as everyone thought he was. Zwan? You fucking kidding me? You can't polish a turd, Billy, unlike your scalp.
