A fan was killed on Monday night at a Smashing Pumpkins concert in what Vancouver police are calling a "mosh pit or crowd surfing" incident. The police went on to say that foul play was not suspected and the circumstances were "not suspicious," adding that the death was due to an "out of control mosh pit." A spokeswoman for the venue said: "It's just a really, really sad ending to what started out to be probably a very fun night for a young man." This incident should serve as a reminder that mosh pits are basically excuses for people who can't win fights to work out agression, and that by joining one you foster the kind of behavior that ensured the last concert this guy ever saw was the reunited Smashing Pumpkins.
