The upcoming Michael Cera vehicle Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, based on a series of graphic novels, is exactly the type of movie that begs for a good soundtrack: a story about a guy in a band (Sex Bob-Omb) who has to battle the girl of his dreams' seven super-powered evil ex-boyfriends, featuring characters named Young Neil, and Stephen Stills. The graphic novels even feature written-in soundtracks with bands like Be Your Own Pet, Neko Case, and Spoon. Metric is already involved somehow in the film, and now, based on a picture from director Edgar Wright's photo-blog, it looks as if Chris Murphy, the founding member of Sloan, is a member of the titular character's Sex Bob-Omb.
There's a chance that Sloan is simply contributing music to the film, and that Cera and Actor Johnny Simmons, who plays Young Neil in the film, were just goofing around during production, but everyone knows that Canadians love cameos.
