Slipknot decline comment on school attack

Metal band Slipknot are declining comment after a boy in South Africa, outfitted in a Slipknot mask, attacked four people in his school with a Samurai sword.
Speaking to a reporter for the Times, a band spokesman had this to say: “We've had no confirmation that it was, in fact, a Slipknot mask. The band is not going to respond."

As is the case in nearly every school attack, community spokespeople are pointing the finger towards the music the boy was listening to. And since the boy was wearing a homemade Slipknot mask, everyone figures the Iowa band’s music had something to do with it.

"He came here camouflaged as the guy from Slipknot. We know the wrong kind of music and drugs have bad effects. Young people need to be informed of the effects of bad Satanic music," said Pierre Eksteen, who is in charge of a support network for students.

But the superintendent of schools, Gerard Labuschagne had a more measured response: "Whenever there is a murder, people jump to conclusions, and always God or Satan told the killers to do it. These notions shouldn't be taken seriously because it is straightforward: someone, of their own free will, can kill another person," he said.

I don’t think the band have to comment, considering it’s not their fault the boy did what he did. [Idolator]

It's interesting that parents always blame the music that a child was listening to when he committed [whatever crime]. But one has to wonder: why aren't these parents under scrutiny considering their job as parents is to *look after* their child/ren - and that includes what that he/she/they are listening to! If they were doing their job as parents, maybe these kids shouldn't be listening to Slipknot or Manson. But, hey, what do I know, what with my silly logic and everything?

What about the millions of kids that listen to Slipknot and don't attack their classmates with samurai swords? Maybe they have some kind of competing positive influence, like NOT BEING BATSH*T INSANE.

they arnt even a satanic band!! wtf, people must stop using bands as a scapegoat for socities own f**ked up problems, if a person looks for bad things they will find it, if they look for good things they will find it, its not the band that at fault, it all depends on the people!!!

OK so if people walk around with bibles and killing people and they say god told me to do it..then people would say thats insane..things like that don't happen..but a kid comes to school with a mask on and they want to blame a band that is thousands of miles away from south Africa and hold them responsible...The only people that is responsible is the kid that did it and that boys parents...
Stop blaming everyone else for your own mistakes...take responsibility for your own actions dammit......next they'll be blaming ticky the clown....
