There was little musically on Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy last year to prevent Axl Rose from becoming the perpetual butt of jokes about overambition/ego, but the guitarist from when the band was good, Slash, has been working on a solo album relatively quietly.
At a Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour event Monday, Slash told a reporter, "It's pretty much done. I've got a couple of songs left to mix and I've got one song left to record which I'm doing as soon as I leave here, after I head back tomorrow."
While Slash was legally obligated to keep mum on collaborations, rumored names include Fergie, Chris Cornell, Ozzy Osbourne (!), and Dave Grohl.
The album is scheduled to be released in some time early 2010. I think we can trust Slash on this one.
Chinese Democracy was incredible.

You obviously know nothing about music. Chinese Democracy had some of the most innovative players in the industry, such as Buckethead, Ron Thal and Brain. It was an evolution from the band's old days.
Meanwhile, Slash is still doing the EXACT same thing from 22 years ago, remaining stagnant creatively. He's pathetic enough to bring about "Fergie" to help him re-do an Appetite song; continuing to live in the past. And you just lap it all up.
Amazing.

have you even listened chinese democracy? its my favourite album

Chinese Democracy was the worst. I should know; I had to listen to that thing to review it.
Why is it so hard for people to understand not everyone has the same taste in music?

Axl is an excellent front man, but he's using the Gun's handle with misinterpretation. When I think Gun's, its Nightrain and Double Talkin' Jive. The new GNR is not this. If Axl wanted to go in a different direction, he should have left all that behind.
Slash is and was an awesome guitar player. He's just making money out of crap. You know he does not care, and why should he? Its just expression, it only amounts to peoples opinions, nothing more.
Jon
To Andross: to criticize Chinese Democracy, let alone call it the "worst thing that you had to review" is a glaring example of why YOU should not be reviewing any music at all, at least not when you are going to air your useless comments publicly. Someone such as yourself should have to listen to Chinese Democracy numerous times before begining to understand the incredible complexity of the songwriting. To Ethan Stanislawski: the first sentence in your above article (if you can call it that) clearly indicates that you know nothing about Axel Rose. It is songwriting skill, and perfectionism, that drive him, not ego. In conclusion; Chinese Democracy is quite obviously a modern masterpiece. I am not even a particular fan of the genre and can clearly hear this, so have another listen.

It's "Axl." rofl.
Chinese democracy was a joke. it has to be some of the worst music gnr has ever put out. i am glad slash is making a solo album. gnr is nothing without slash. axle is still good but the music sure doesnt show it

Chinese Democracy would have been a great album if it were written by another band. Guns n' Roses was simply one of the best bands in the entire history of music and Axl is slowly, but surely, turning that name into a laughing stock. And as for Slash "living in the past", its his style, a style that I love and want to hear more of!!!

Chinese Democracy sucks big time. Axl vocal is irritating ! Thumbs up for you Slash. Can't wait for your new album.
