Pitchfork’s Ryan Dombal recently sat down with Randall Poster, the music supervisor behind a pair of star-studded comps–last year’s Rave On and the upcoming Fleetwood Mac one–and right-hand-musical-man to Wes Anderson. He talks about picking the right classical and Hank Williams pieces to score Anderson’s latest, Moonrise Kingdom, but Poster also reveals an unusual love for one Skrillex.
Revealing that he’s still a “geeky 16-year-old kid” when it comes to music, Poster mentions catching a Skrillex show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom and getting a visceral reaction from the music.
He was first tipped to the DJ via director Harmony Korine, with whom he’s working with on the upcoming film Spring Breakers. Poster admitted that he’s getting Skrillex to contribute original music to the film, which stars James Franco as a rapper named Riff Raff.
No word yet on whether Skrillex himself will appear in the movie, but those bass drops will soon be wrattling Slushees and popcorn containers in a theater near you.
