BBC Radio 1 revealed today that it has signed five new DJs to host their own shows as part of the network's dance music line up. Skream and Benga, Toddla T, Charlie Sloth, and Friction will all get their own programs on the station starting in April 2012. Skream and Benga's show will run from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday nights while Toddla will handle early Friday mornings from 2-4 a.m. Charlie Sloth's show will air on Tuesdays from 2-4 a.m. and Friction's will air on Mondays from 2-4 a.m.
These additions of course mean that there must be some subtractions, such as the loss of longtime DJ Gilles Peterson along with Judge Jules, Kissy Sell Out, Fabio, and Grooverider. Peterson is apparently looking to Radio 6 Music for future projects.
