Sirius and XM merging any second now
Better than that, CNN just announced that it's a done deal.
Now, I've listened extensively to satellite radio--no, actually, I heard Sirius when I splurged and rented a convertible Mustang on my last trip to Southern Cali, flipping mainly between the three electronic stations and the hip-hop joints, including Eminem's Shade 45 station. The selection (and lack of censoring) was certainly better than FM, but there's a repetitiveness to the playlists that seem to plague any commercial radio offerings.
FCC regulators still will have their say, and past rhetoric has suggested anti-competitive restrictions may come into play (even though in a land where Clear Channel owns the FM dial, such notions seem absurd). It will be interesting to see how the content gets merged for those of us with no vested interest in how we can tune in to hear Howard Stern (currently on Sirius).
