Simian Mobile Disco produce exercise track for Nike

Since no one actually pays money for music anymore, the once unthinkable act of openly working with a giant multi-national corporation is now a necessary subsidy for a music career - people are faster to spend 10 bucks on lime beer because Santogold’s music is in the commercial than spend the same amount of money on a Santogold CD. Simian Mobile Disco has entered into a corporate collaboration of their own, composing the soundtrack for a 30-minute exercise routine created by Nike. The music mimics the pace of an actual workout, starting off slow, rising in pace and then “cooling down” for the last few minutes, even moving at an ideal BPM for runners to keep pace. The piece, entitled “Run” is available now on iTunes along with a similar project from LCD Soundsystem. [NME]
