While the Silver Jews have been officially retired, frontman David Berman has remained busy since their dissolution in early 2009. Berman, also a published cartoonist and poet, couldn't be expected to just sit around post-Silver Jews, and it appears that for now he's chosen to start a blog, mentholmountains, as an outlet for some of his artistic meanderings.
The blog, as enigmatic as any of Berman's famously cryptic lyrics, for now includes a picture of a dog, an excerpt from the Oresteia, five Yiddish proverbs and a video of daredevil Donald Campbell's fatal crash. Berman cheekily promises future updates to include essays entitled "Heavy Metal Music: Looking Back on Forty Years of Empty Threats," "Headbanger Tadpoles, Tea Party Toads" and "Time Opens Up: A Message From 1999."
If you dig Berman's wry humor, or just want to take a peek inside the head of one of indie rock's great auteurs, check the blog out here. [P4k]
