Sign that hip-hop is dead: Forbes praises richest rappers

Jay-ZIn an attempt to reach out to a "younger, more 'bling-conscious'" audience, Forbes magazine has released a special report listing the 20 richest men in hip-hop in 2006. Topping the list is Budweiser spokesperson Jay-Z, with a projected $34 million earned in 2006. 50 Cent comes in a close second with $32 million. Some of the other respectable contenders on the list include Dr. Dre (#5 with $20 million), Kanye West (#8 with $17 million) and Ice Cube (#15 with $13 million); more dubious entries include Chamillionaire (#18 with $11 million) and Yung Joc (#20 with $10 million). As someone who finds Jay-Z's millionaire mogul image a bit intolerable, I'm not sure this list is gonna do wonders for hip-hop (or Jay's inflated ego), but, hey, gotta let a player play, right?

Yeah, doubt Joc'll be up there in '07 or '08... doubt the top 5-10 are going anywhere soon.
