‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ TV Show Greenlit By ABC; Joss Whedon To Co-Write

It looks like Marvel might be bringing The Avengers to the small screen: ABC has greenlit a live-action pilot based on the S.H.I.E.L.D. team.

Deadline reports that Joss Whedon is writing the co-writing the pilot with his brother and sister-in-law Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, who also wrote with Joss on Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog. Joss Whedon is rumored as a director for the pilot episode, but nothing has been confirmed. It may be likely that another director will step in, seeing that he will be directing The Avengers 2 and contributing to other films in the Marvel universe.

ABC airing the show is not surprising, as the network and Marvel Studios are both owned by Disney. Nothing is confirmed about the story details of the series, but while you wait for that story, you can check out the deleted scene from the upcoming The Avengers Blu-ray that Yahoo posted earlier today.
