Shia LeBeouf has confirmed that he is appearing in Lars von Trier’s new film Nymphomaniac and mentioned that all of him will be appearing, as all of the sex scenes will be performed for real.
LeBeouf told MTV News that the script he received for Nymphomaniac had “a disclaimer at the top… that basically says says we’re doing it for real. Everything that’s illegal, we’ll shoot in blurred images.” He is prepared to take on the challenge, but notes that Von Trier’s history of on-set improvisation and controversial subject matter has left him “so terrified, which is why I have to go. We'll see what happens."
However, LeBeouf’s girlfriend, Karolyn Pho, was not very happy about the revelation: the NY Daily News reports they had a very public argument about it in Los Angeles earlier in the week. This is not the first time LeBeouf has bared it all on film, though: he appeared nude in the music video for Sigur Rós's “Fjögur Píanó” earlier this year.
The film will focus on the sexual development of a woman played by Charlotte Gainsbourg from her youth to middle-age. Nymphomaniac will be split into two standalone films by Von Trier, with each version being released with separate mild and explicit edits. Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and Stellan Skarsgård also are set to star.
