Shearwater/Xiu Xiu Side Project Announce Debut Album

    Earlier this year, Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu and Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater announced they were forming a band called Blue Water White Death, named after a 1971 documentary about some bros looking for sharks in Australia. More than a fun exercise to see if Shearwater’s plaintive style meshes with Xiu Xiu’s experimental freakouts, they’ll be releasing their self-titled debut record on October 12 from Graveface. The cover art, shown to the side, is kind of creepy but it matches song titles like “The End of Sex” and “Rendering the Juggalos.” Do you think they’re going to the Gathering this year?
