If there is one person playing music today who could pull off a pretty good Mark Hollis interpretation, it's Jonathan Meiburg. Covering "The Rainbow" off Talk Talk's brilliant opus, Spirit of Eden, is a ballsy move and quite an undertaking, but Shearwater pull it off quite nicely. The version acts as more of an homage to the original rather than a brand-new rendition. It's available as the B-side to the lead single, "Rooks," on seven-inch vinyl, and there has been no announcement about a digital release yet. Shearwater's Rooks is due out June 3 via Matador.

Good stuff; I'd like to hear Jim O'Rourke try his hand at this too.
