Shearwater Releases Live Album, 'The Island Arc'
The title of Shearwater's newly released live album, The Island Arc, refers to the theme that connects their three previous releases -- Palo Santo, Rook, and The Golden Archipelago. Jonathan Meiburg and company presented the theme to a live audience this past January. They performed all three albums back-to-back-to-back at the Central Presbyterian Church in Austin, a fitting arena for Shearwater's grandiose, swelling music. The Island Arc is a mere excerpt of the three-hour-long set, which makes me speculate that the full concert will be available as a physical release in the coming year.
