Video: Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings ''"100 Days, 100 Nights''"

Allegedly made on a $50 budget (the price of ''"a pair of old video cameras off ebay''"), this video for the title track from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings''' new album 100 Days, 100 Nights certainly knows how to set a scene. On the surface the clip is just a straight up performance piece''all black and white, costumed studio, vintage edits''but watch it through and one begins to understand: With Jones, the aesthetic is that it'''s all aesthetics; the catch is that there really isn'''t one.
It'''s an inspired time warp''there are no winks to millenniums as far as away as our own''and Jones herself is a legitimately awesome presence. As for the song itself: If ever one was looking for a proper explanation as to why Sharon Jones gets tagged a ''"brilliant revivalist''" while Jenny Lewis remains stuck in the mud of, say, ''"opportunistic pastiche,''" well: this is it.
