Sex Pistols Sue Over "God Save The Cream" Ice Cream

Although London department store Selfridges & Co's new boutique basement creamery the Icecreamist has plenty of tongues wagging for its punk rock, absinthe-covered flavors, they may be caught up in a bit of legal brain freeze. Glitterbest, holding company for ‘70s punk progenitors the Sex Pistols, has initiated a copyright infringement lawsuit against the treat concession for its “God Save the Cream” ad campaign. Says Icecreamist founder Matt O’Connor:

“We are a bit dumbfounded that a group that made its reputation for being banned is trying to ban one of our ice creams and claim copyright over the national anthem and the Queen.”

This probably isn’t the first time you’ve seen dairy and the Sex Pistols in a headline together. Last year former front man Johnny Rotten – er, that’s John Lydon now – starred in Country Life butter advertisements that joked about his punk rock past.
