Sex Pistols squat goes condo

Now you can own a piece of punk rock history for a considerably lower price tag than John Varvatos paid to open his boutique on the former CBGB site. The Hampstead, London building where John Lydon (nee Rotten) and Sid Vicious squatted back in the formative days of the Sex Pistols has been renovated to the tune of £5 million. Previously declared "unfit for habitation" and lacking running water or electricity, the New Court building now sports one-bedroom apartments that start at £360,000. But for all its modernizations, the former punk haven still bears one reminder of its gritty history: you can still see the spot where Sid, apparently bored with inflicting incisions upon himself, once carved his name into one of the building's outer bricks.
