One concert-going United States Senator is suspicious of the proposed merger between Ticketmaster and concert promoter Live Nation Inc. Democratic Senator Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee's panel on antitrust issues, warned of "serious competition concerns" in a letter sent Monday to the U.S. Department of Justice. The Justice Department is currently considering whether to approve the merger.
Sen. Kohl called for Justice to review the deal closely. They should only approve the merger, Kohl said, if resulting cost savings are likely to be passed on to the consumer. [USA Today]
