Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers is either going to be an awful mess or an awesome mess or both. The star power alone (Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, James Franco. Seriously) is worth the price of your ticket; but it's really the film's premise that solidifies Korine's reputation as a weird demented creep with a handful of honest talents. Meaning: how could you not see this?
It's gonna get CRUNK: four college girls rob a fast food dive to fund their spring break trip. After getting busted, they meet Alien (Franco), a cornrowed deviant who takes the girls "under his wing" (which undoubtedly implies loads of drugs and sexy scandal). Oh, and at some point during the movie, Alien plays Britney Spears' "Everytime" on a white piano at the beach while his barely-legals dance around him wearing ski masks and bearing shotguns. (Yep, that happens.)
The poster for Spring Breakers was just revealed, and seems to reference said beach scene (in shades of Day-Glo). The film is scheduled to premiere in New York and Los Angeles on March 22, and nationwide March 29. As previously reported, the soundtrack will feature music from Skrillex, which is an obvious choice, and a score composed by Moore and Cliff Martinez.
