When Jimmy Fallon took over the reins of the late night slot following the Tonight Show from Conan O'Brien a few years ago, many people weren't sure that he could handle it. However, he's come to be one of the funniest people on television period, and a lot of it has to do with the hilarious bits he comes up with.
One of them is his impression of Neil Young. Besides being spot-on, it combines the stodginess of the folk legend with some of the silliness of modern pop music. For instance, many people were fooled when he dressed up as the singer-songwriter and performed 'Party in the U.S.A.' by Miley Cyrus, and he even got Bruce Springsteen to join him for a rendition of Willow Smith's 'Whip My Hair.'
His latest version was showcased on The Late Show With David Letterman recently, and it's an excellent choice. Letterman, who once anchored the spot Fallon currently occupies on NBC, seems genuinely delighted by the song. It doesn't hurt that Neil Young was just on the program and is probably still in the building, listening for inspiration. Check it out below (via Rolling Stone).
