Nothing spells sex-stank electro-pop irony quite like F R A N C E. To whit: sonic kitsch savant Tellier's new album Sexuality, out stateside in October, produced by Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. While American audiences may be most familiar with Tellier from his instrumental "Fantino" from the Lost in Translation soundtrack, he's recently gone crooner, a twist so successful that his insanely catchy, dippy number "Divine" became France's entry in the 2008 Eurovision contest.
The album also represents Guy-Manuel's first non-Daft production, who says that Tellier "is maybe the best singer and composer in France today." Furthermore, in a no-brainer of a cross-marketing move, the album is being pre-released at all US American Apparel outlets on July 22nd - its sleazy-smooth Gallic grooves for bursting loins and broken hearts will most certainly comprise a site-appropriate shopping soundtrack.
Finally, if there were any lingering doubts about Sebastien's devotion to lazer-disco excess, check out the eye-melting album cover.
