Let's just call Sebadoh the new Pavement. Of course the bands were contemporaries. But now Domino records is re-releasing buffed up editions of Sebadoh's classic early albums much like Matador has been doing with Pavement's. Whereas Matador went in chronological order, Domino is jumping back in time after last year's re-issue of Sebadoh III. July 10 is the slated release date for the deluxe edition of The Freed Man. It was Sebadoh's first album, and has never seen a proper release on CD after being available in vinyl and cassette formats. The re-issue will somehow miraculously cram 52 songs on to one CD, many of them never before released. It will also include expanded liner notes from Eric Gaffney and Lou Barlow.
