Screaming Females Working With Steve Albini On New Album

There was a whiff of a ‘90s revival looming in 2011, particularly in the alt rock moves of EMA’s Past Life Martyred Saints. That looks sets to continue in 2012, judging by how busy Steve Albini has been of late. The new Cloud Nothings album bears his imprint, as does a new Screaming Females record due at some point in 2012.

Spin has photos from the sessions for the new album by the New Jersey band, which will follow the excellent Castle Talk from last year. Screaming Females have had problems transferring the visceral energy of their live shows to the recording studio, so enlisting Albini to help out seems like a wise idea.

Check out the photos over here, which feature Marissa Paternoster tinkling away at a piano (hopefully not an indication of a different turn the band has taken) and Albini in his regulation Electrical Audio boiler suit.
