While the other members of boisterous supergroup Velvet Revolver sit comfortably on their laurels after their induction to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame (as members of Guns n’ Roses of course), former frontman Scott Weiland claims he has rejoined the band. In an interview, with ABC New Radio, the singer and hard drug connoisseur announced he was rejoining the band he was fired from four years previously. Talk of a reunion has startled many – none more than band guitarist Slash, who in an interview with Minneapolis Radio Station 93x denied any knowledge of a Weiland return, commenting “He’s out of his mind.”
Weiland did play with Velvet Revolver in a one off concert at a West Hollywood club in January. However, Slash denies that the reunion is going any further. “I’m on tour all year.” said the former Guns n’ Roses guitarist. “I’ll call (bassist) Duff McKagan – but I seriously doubt it… We have no intention of going backwards.” McKagen himself responded through Twitter “April Fools? Oh wait…It’s half-way through May. Nevermind.”
Weiland meanwhile remains convinced, claiming that he’s working on songs with the band and a tour in the late summer / early fall may be on the cards. Fans should remain skeptical though. Judging by the rest of the band’s response, an Axl – Slash reunion might seem more realistic.
