Scott Walker "produces" live show

Scott Walker has made a career out of zigging just when you expect him to zag. So why should he take the expected approach to live performance and actually peform at his own show? November 13-15 will find London's famed Barbican Theatre hosting Drifting and Tilting - The Songs of Scott Walker. As you might guess from the title, this event will feature songs from Walker's latter-day bizzaro releases Drift and Tilt. What you might not guess is that while Walker is listed as providing "sound production" and "concepts" for the performance, and his band will be playing, the avant-crooner in questions will not actually be singing.

"Please note: Scott Walker will NOT be performing" is the no-refund-requests-please disclaimer prominently displayed within the Barbican announcement. It's unclear at this point exactly who will be singing this challenging material, but whoever it is, odds are there'll be at least one person sitting in the audience who could do it better. Rock on, Scott, you inscrutable freak. [Pitchfork]
