Scott Walker announces instrumental album, import doc available soon

Scott WalkerTeen-idol-cum-avant-garde-iconoclast Scott Walker is set to release an instrumental record September 24 on 4AD Records entitled, no joke, And Who Shall Go To The Ball? And What Shall Go To The Ball? A bit prolix perhaps, but let's agree it's much better than the working titles Balls Balls, Go Get Those Balls and Scott 5: Ballin' Wit' Scott. The 25-minute album is the result of London's South Bank Theatre commissioning Walker to write music for a contemporary dance piece. The album, along with last year's critically acclaimed The Drift, will mark Walker's closest simultaneous new releases since his 1960s heyday, and only his fifth official album release since 1977.
Elsewhere, a documentary about Walker entitled Scott Walker: 30 Century Man," which features interviews from David Bowie, Brian Eno, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker and a slew of other ridiculously respectable artists, will be available on DVD via import on September 11. In the meantime, here's a link to the trailer.
