Saul Williams: poet, artist, musician''and now''liberator of your financial obligations. The FADER label today announced the November 1st release of Williams'''s new record The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!''and they'''re in a giving mood.
Produced by Trent Reznor (Williams describes the album as ''"the lovechild of Trent and me''"), NiggyTardust will only be available online, with your payment options being either a.) A $5 artist contribution or, b.) As we used to say growing up in (gulp) Toronto, The Big Ol''' Zilchorama. Three downloading formats will be available, but each will be 100% DRM Free. According to FADER, ''"Williams' fans will also be able to embed Musicane's viral player on their own blogs or profiles, which will broadcast live-updated video messages from NiggyTardust and also contain the option to download or buy the album.''"
As for the project itself, Williams says "The Niggytardust concept sets me free to do more on stage with costume, etc. than one might expect from a regular Saul Williams show. It allows me to put my theatre training to use. I've also thought long and hard about all the discussion surrounding racial epithets etc. and chose this title as a means of furthering the dialogue while also showing how creativity will outlive and outshine hatred of any kind."
