In early November in advance of the mtvU Woodies, there were rumblings that Santogold changed her stage name because of a possible lawsuit brewing involving Santo Rigatuso, who has owned the name for awhile. But Santogold (real name Santi White) and her publicist responded that she was definitely not changing her name.

It seems that's changed, since it was announced today that White would be changing her stage name to Santigold. There's no reason given for the name change, although that possible lawsuit probably weighed on her decision.
