Now that most of the Chess records stable got their own half-baked biopic that reduced all their lives to roughly seven minutes segments each in Cadillac Records, now it's time for another influential R&B singer to get his own picture film: ABCKO has announced plans to turn Peter Guralnick's biography of Sam Cooke, Dream Boogie: The Triumph of Sam Cooke, into a movie. Cooke, most known for "A Change is Gonna Come," and his position in the Civil Rights movement, was killed in 1964 at the age of 33 in a still controversial shooting allegedly perpetrated by the owner of a hotel Cooke was staying at. Hopefully the movie focuses on that, but it probably won't. [Daily Swarm]
