Sale Of J Dilla's Record Collection Delayed As Authenticity Is Confirmed

Yesterday brought the huge news that a record collection containing between 7,000-8,000 LPs, believed to be owned by the late J Dilla, was up for sale at a record shop in Royal Oak, Mich. While that still appears to be the case, selling the collection has been put on hold for a second so Dilla's mom, Maureen "Ma Dukes" Yancey, can verify its authenticity, according to The Detroit News.

Jeff Bubeck found the enormous collection in a storage unit in Clifton Township, Mich. Ma Dukes confirmed that although her son did keep his records in a unit there, he had a number of them shipped to Los Angeles in 2004, where he was then living. Bubeck is the co-owner of the UHF record store, and has said he plans to donate proceeds to both the J Dilla Foundation and the Yancey family. [P4K]
