Saafir reps the Bay with new album

via BallerStatus
Now I know all you kids with your hyphy tapes think you know about the Bay Area sound, but check your history. Saafir blew minds in 1994 with his Boxcar Sessions album, unveiling a oddly hypnotic robotic rhyme style on "Battle Drill" and taking it from there. He was also involved in one of the most famous on-air rap battles, as Saafir broke down Casual and Tajai from Souls of Mischief on the Sway and King Tech Wake-Up Show. This was back before Sway was interviewing Fergie on MTV, so it may seem like ancient history.
The signs for a new album have been up in SF for a minute, with "Good Game: The Transition" out on streets now. After a seven year break, Saafir reunites with ABB head Beni B (who was featured on the intro to Boxcar Sessions) so hopefully this can continue the good run the Bay has had lately.

I was hoping someone would blog about this. This guy just seemed to disappear. Good to hear he's coming back.
