Reuters is reporting that RZA and producer Dallas Jackson are co-producing a remake of Berry Gordy's critically-panned cult classic The Last Dragon. Few details have emerged at this point, other than that the script is currently being written by Jackson, who's previously produced I, Robot and Norbit. Also, Samuel L. Jackson will play the role of Sho'nuff, the Shogun of Harlem.
RZA hasn't mentioned anything about scoring the film, but considering that he's worked on the scores for two films (Kill Bill, Ghost Dog: Way of the Samuari), it's likely not out of the question. The big question is, who will play the titular role? The first black actor who came to mind was Nick Cannon, but I think I'd rather they spray-painted Channing Tatum brown than encourage Nick Cannon's film career.

Why? Let Bruce Leroy be!
"Who's the masta Leroy!"

This won't work without Taimak!
Tony
Agree Tony and Jboh... this is a classic that should be left alone. If they wanted to do a current day version with the original characters. I wouldn't oppose. But new cast not feel'n at all. I'd probably watch it out of curiousity but will probably be disapointed.
La
WOW....I have this movie on Laserdisc, VHS and DVD....awaiting blu-ray!
Maybe you could get someone from the ISKA World Championships to play Taimak...I remember his dad used to fight in Pride back in the day!!!!
And remember Taimak as "the dude that wasn't gettin' any" in Janet Jacksons "Let's Wait Awhile" video? Classic.
Oh, get Chico DeBarge to do the soundtrack.....
