Rushcon 2008

Ready to party like it's 2112? If you're reading this right now, you're off to a bad start, because you're probably not at Rushcon 2008, which is happening in Toronto as we speak, and runs through tomorrow. The annual event started in 2001, offering hardcore fans of the Canadian power trio (and they don't come much more hardcore than Rush fans) the chance to mingle with others of their kind, revel in Rush arcana, indulge in Rush-related activities, and of course, listen to music. Sometimes the headline act at Rushcon is a tribute band, but whenever possible, the event coincides with a local stop on a Rush tour, as is the case with this year's performance by the band at Toronto's Molson Ampitheatre tomorrow. So what's a Rushcon really like? Is it a combination of Heavy Metal Parking Lot, Star Trek convention, and Burning Man? Is it the last place outside an actual Rush concert in which one can wear a Farewell To Kings tour jersey unironically? There's only one way to find out for sure...come on, you know you want to go...
